Natures Reward

Natures Reward

We all have a desire in us for peace and calm, the first step in the right direction was taking time to go spend out in the wild. My love for nature started when I was just a kid, my dad would take our family on camping trips and vacations that would highlight the enhanced beauty of life found in nature. We would go to the mountains or the woods and lakes. I just couldn’t get enough, and so nature became my escape to peace. The world we live in is non stop, it feels like there isn’t any time to catch your breath. When you go out on a week long camping trip in the mountains you soon realize within the first day that you are now being governed by the laws of nature and not those of society. For instance the sun tells you when to wake and sleep or having to cook over a campfire that you had to start, here in lies natures governance. You no longer have the amenity’s and comforts of home and you no longer have the pressure of the day to day grind, life simplifies.

Top five benefits of being in nature

1. Simplicity

Sometimes we have to let go of the daily pressure and go wander in nature. They say “not all who wander are lost”. Listening to the water roaring and feeling the cool wind rush through the valley was vey refreshing. Going on a nature walk for a day instead of a trip is still better than not going at all. You’d be amazed by how much one day of being out there will help you decompress.

2. Peace

In nature you can find a irresistible and irrefutable sense of peace. Watching and observing all the creatures in the wild. Birds, Lizards, Squirrels, Deer all the like as they live and roam their habitats. While there are some animals that are not gentle, most are. Sitting and observing can bring a certain peace that shows you life is more that just what we get funneled into daily.

3. Fresh Air

If you live in a city or maybe you just work in one, the air quality is not top notch. After a while it can take a toll on you and going out for a hike or walk on the beach will give your lungs a chance to get some fresh air. Also who knows what type of wildlife you might see!

4. Invigorating Journeys

Pick a heading and go for it! It isn’t always about just the destination but the journey that you took to get there. The heightened sense of smell and awareness with the racing of your heart as you climb coupled with strong willed perseverance. In the end you look forward unto a new horizon with a sense of accomplishment that maybe you didn’t know you could have. You did it, you endeavored, you endured, you accomplished!

5. A Happy Heart

Finding happiness has always been the challenge in a ever changing world. I have found just putting the phone down and leaving it at the house while you take your dog for a walk really does some honest good for the heart. We try to make it a habit to go to the park or the woods and the camp grounds by the lake regularly for our walks. Being out there without technology frees you from that “I gotta go, I have things to do” feeling. You are able to separate and have intentional time with yourself, your spouse or friend and even your dog. Just like we need a balanced diet, we need a balanced lifestyle. Nature brings you that, reconnecting you with reality!
